The Big Draw - ‘Ruskin in Wyre’ Project
The Big Draw is the World’s largest drawing festival and is celebrated throughout October. Supported by the Guild of St. George, this international celebration of drawing has grown from one day in October 2000 to an annual month-long festival of drawing across the UK and the world.
Being based in the beautiful surroundings of the Wyre Forest has many benefits, including endless supplies of inspiration. With such a perfect setting the Wyre Community Land Trust decided to take part in The Big Draw for the first-time last year.
Visitors brought along their creative side and got the opportunity to draw whatever inspired them including a variety of natural objects, from animal skulls to acorns and leaves to feathers.
We are celebrating this wonderful festival again this year as part of the ‘Ruskin in Wyre’ Project.
'Long Lines' - drawing on the forest floor
For families, and fun loving grown ups, come and work with artists from B arts. We will make charcoal, (and for people who can stay longer wood cut prints) to create large scale drawings on the floor of the forest.
We will be working with charcoal, using pigments and mark making materials from the forest; twigs, clay, moss, bark. Get prepared to be messy!
