The Final of St Anne`s Christmas Chess Knock-out was held at St Anne`s Church in Bewdley on Wednesday 18th December.

It needed two games to decide who would be this year`s winner and, after a hard fought game, it was Diane Maga who took the shield with Vernon Owen as our runner-up.

Diane has made history as she is the first lady to win a Chess Championship in Bewdley. She was presented with the St Anne`s KT shield by the Mayor of Bewdley, Councillor John Byng.

The Club has been going now for over 5 years and is held on Wednesday`s between 12noon till 2pm and has become very popular in the town. The Club was instrumental in getting the now popular Bewdley Town Chess Tournament which raises money for Charities and is held once a year.

Keith Thompson said it was the aim of the Club to get Bewdley known as a Chess friendly Town, which would be the only Town with that title in the U.K.
