Potential Flooding

Please be advised that the Environment Agency is planning for the possible deployment of barriers along the Severn Corridor over this weekend in response to the predicated rainfall levels. This may include Beale’s corner although the position is being reviewed regularly. The EA are standing up their Operations Incident Unit from 2pm today.

All agencies including County Highways, Severn Trent, Fire and Rescue etc are aware and on standby. There will be a second teleconference for the West Mercia Flood Advisory Service at 11.00 hours Saturday 26 October, which myself and or Steve Brant will take part in.

Operational Services teams have been briefed - mainly affecting cattle which have been moved to higher ground.

In summary some wet weather over the next 24 hours, with plenty of rain around for everyone. There’ll be enough to make travelling unpleasant and difficult at times, and if we are unlucky we could see a few instances of more significant localised surface water impacts as a result of some relatively short lived more intense downpours, although its not possible to say where these may occur in advance.

The effects of the rainfall will likely be felt over the weekend and run into Monday and Tuesday of next week.
