Councillor John Beeson, the Mayor of Bewdley, has paid tribute to the work of retiring Town Councillor Anne Mace. Miss Mace stepped down from her position as a Town Councillor in December following some health issues after eleven years on the Council, one of which as the town’s Mayor.

In a letter addressed to the Mayor, Miss Mace said “I have many happy memories of my time on the Council, the highlight being the honour of serving as Mayor of our wonderful town”.

At a meeting of the Council in December, Councillor Beeson commended Miss Mace for her tireless work representing the residents of Wribbenhall and in particular the work she has done through the Council’s Together Group helping to tackle loneliness and isolation in Bewdley. “Anne has been an asset to the Town Council and has worked hard over so many years on issues like health, planning and road safety” said Councillor Beeson, “and she will be sorely missed from the Council chamber”. Nick Farress, the Town Clerk added “we wish Anne a very restful retirement and good health for the future”.

The vacancy means that a by-election will be held for the two seats now vacant on Bewdley Town Council in late February.
