Four Bewdley residents have been recognised for their community work by the former Mayor of Bewdley.

Outgoing Mayor, Councillor Anna Coleman, presented the awards at the Annual Town Council Meeting before the new Mayor was elected.

Recipients of the Mayor’s “Thank You Award” were Ian Williams for his work in the community over many years which most recently includes Treasurer to the Friends of Wyre Hill Sand Park, Sue Edwards who worked tirelessly during the winter months gritting pavements in Wribbenhall and Tracy Grosvenor who was nominated by the residents of Stephenson Place for going above and beyond to help vulnerable residents.

This year’s prestigious “Bewdley Civic Award” which is given to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the community in the town was awarded to Carol Allen who has been involved in the Wribbenhall brownies for many decades and is a true “unsung hero”.

Councillor Anna Coleman, the outgoing Mayor said “I am honoured to be able to recognise these four people through the Mayoralty in this way. Bewdley’s sense of community spirit is second to none and it is people like Ian, Sue, Carol and Tracy who keep that spirit alive”.

The Thank You Award recipients received a signed certificate whilst the Civic Award is a gold pendant that the awardee can wear at formal occasions.

Councillor Anna Coleman was succeeded by her husband Councillor Roger Coleman as Mayor at the meeting, and is now the Mayoress of Bewdley.
